FAQ

What exactly is a permanent holding company?

A permanent holding company is built to own and operate businesses for the long term. Unlike private equity or search funds, we don’t buy to sell. We acquire great companies and remain invested — continuing to build on the legacy that founders have spent decades creating.

Our model is designed for founders who are ready to retire — either now or soon. We aim to acquire the vast majority or 100% of your business, and take on full operational responsibility, working closely with you on a smooth, respectful transition. In many cases, we bring in a CEO-in-Training who’s been groomed to lead the next chapter with continuity and care.

We have permanent capital from investors who founded and built some of the world’s best holding companies — including Danaher, TransDigm, and 3G Capital — along with a select group of value-added family offices. We also work closely with local banks, family offices, and sometimes sellers themselves for debt financing. This flexibility allows us to move quickly and close with confidence.

We’re here to protect what made your business special — not dismantle it. We work closely with your team, preserve what’s working, and make thoughtful improvements over time. Your employees, customers, and culture matter to us — and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our intention is not to sell. We acquire businesses with a long-term mindset and aim to hold them for decades. In rare cases, we may consider an exit — for example, if a business turns out not to be as enduring or high-quality as we believed. But that’s the exception, not the plan. We’re not portfolio managers. We’re permanent stewards.

What is the CEO Succession Program (CSP)?

The CSP is a structured, multi-year path to becoming a C-level executive of one of our businesses. You’ll rotate through Timah HQ, apprentice under a veteran operator, and eventually step into a leadership role. It’s the first program of its kind in Southeast Asia — meant for those who want to build and lead within a platform designed to help you succeed.

Yes. It’s a full-time, salaried role with benefits. CITs also receive performance-based bonuses, which may include equity in Timah Partners. From day one, you’re treated like a future leader — not a student, trainee or intern.

You don’t need prior C-suite experience. Many of our candidates come from consulting, investing, startups, or technical fields. What matters most is the ability to learn quickly, act decisively, and lead with humility and ownership.

Even if the fit isn’t forever, the experience will shape your career. You’ll walk away with real operational reps, direct exposure to exceptional CEOs and board members, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to run a business. It’s the kind of experience that sets you apart — and helps you stand out in any future opportunity.

What kind of businesses does Timah acquire?

We acquire enduring, growing, and highly cash-generating B2B businesses — typically with recurring revenues, strong customer retention, and deep operational moats. We don’t pursue distressed companies, early-stage startups, or commodity-driven sectors.

Every deal is carefully evaluated and approved by our executive board — made up of world-class investors and business leaders. We maintain a high bar and only pursue businesses that align with our long-term ownership model and operating principles.

Our companies generate strong, recurring cash flows and are acquired with prudent levels of debt. In today’s low-yield environment, we expect our debt offerings to be attractive relative to similar local fixed income options — backed by disciplined stewardship and real operating depth.

We work with commercial banks, private lenders, value-added family offices, and in some cases, the sellers themselves. This flexible capital base helps us structure transactions that are efficient, respectful, and built to last.
